Domino has announced that support for several legacy G-Series thermal inkjet printers will end on 31 March 2027.

The affected equipment includes:

• Domino G20i
• Domino G120i
• Domino G220i
• Domino G320i
• Domino G-Series OEM Controller

If your production line still uses any of these models, now is the right time to begin planning your next steps.

What does the end of support mean?

After 31 March 2027, Domino will no longer provide formal support for the affected G-Series equipment. Availability of replacement parts is already limited and remaining parts will only be available while stocks last.

Although your printer may continue to operate, maintaining it could become increasingly difficult if a component needs to be replaced. Waiting until a printer fails could lead to longer periods of downtime and an unplanned, urgent replacement.

Planning ahead gives you time to review your current application, test an alternative printer and schedule an upgrade around your production requirements.

Upgrading to the Domino Gx-Series

Domino recommends upgrading affected G-Series printers to the current Gx-Series thermal inkjet range.

The Gx-Series is designed for high-resolution printing of text, graphics, barcodes and machine-readable 2D codes onto a wide range of products and packaging.

For manufacturers currently using two older G-Series printheads to achieve a larger print area, the new Domino Gx-Series Pro printhead could provide a particularly suitable upgrade option.

Its larger print height can reduce the need for multiple printheads in certain applications, helping to simplify installation while providing more space for larger codes, product information and graphics.

The most suitable replacement will depend on factors including:

• The required print height
• Line speed
• Product or packaging material
• Available installation space
• Code content and quality requirements
• Integration with existing production equipment

Start planning before March 2027

The end-of-support date may appear some distance away, but reviewing your equipment early will help you avoid unnecessary production risks.
